Commissions

Made once, made for one room.

Every piece leaving the studio is built to order. We work in four disciplines, often crossing between them on a single project: a painting scaled to a stair wall, a walnut table sized to a breakfast nook, casework fitted to the inch. Here is what we make and how a commission actually runs.

01

Paintings

Original work in oil and acrylic, sized to your wall rather than a standard canvas. We start from your palette, your light, and the room the piece will live in. Most paintings run 30 by 40 inches up to full mural scale.

02

Sculpture

Freestanding and wall-mounted pieces in steel, bronze, and carved wood. We handle everything from tabletop objects to entry pieces that anchor a foyer, including mounting hardware and installation.

03

Tables

Dining tables, desks, and consoles in Texas pecan, walnut, and white oak, with steel or solid-wood bases. You choose the slab, the finish, and the exact dimensions. Built to be used daily and refinished once a generation.

04

Casework

Built-in shelving, media walls, credenzas, and library units, measured on site and fitted to the inch. Hardwood faces, dovetailed drawers, and hardware that closes the way it should.

The process, start to finish

Typically 6 to 14 weeks

Step 01

Conversation

You tell us about the space and what you want it to hold. We talk at the studio, at your home, or by phone. No charge, no obligation.

Step 02

Concept & quote

We send sketches, material samples, and a fixed price. You revise on paper until it is right. A 50 percent deposit reserves your slot on the bench.

Step 03

The build

The piece takes shape in our Deep Ellum shop. You get photo updates at each stage, and you are welcome to visit while the work is underway.

Step 04

Delivery

We deliver, install, and level everything ourselves within the Dallas area, and we crate for freight beyond it. Balance is due on delivery.

The studio

One studio, one pair of hands on every piece.

Blackland Studio is a working shop in Deep Ellum where the painting and the joinery happen under the same roof. That is deliberate. When the same eye designs the canvas and the credenza beneath it, the room holds together. We take on a limited number of commissions each season so nothing gets rushed.
